11 more dead in Punjab due to poisonous liquor, 38 including Congress leader arrested

Poisoning of poisonous liquor in Punjab is not taking its name. On Sunday, 11 more people died in TarnTaran. In four days, the death toll has reached 101. Of these 78 people have died only in Tarn Taran.

The death toll in this district is expected to go above 100, as many bodies were cremated without informing the police. Police have stepped up action against those involved in this black business. On Sunday, 38 people including a Congress leader were arrested. 20 of them were from TarnTaran, while 18 were in Amritsar.

Caught from Two lakh 36 thousand mL liquor, 3150 kg of liquor, running furnace of liquor and Innova were recovered from Block Congress leader Major Singh's house from Mahmudpura village of Tarn Taran. Elsewhere, two running kilns have also been caught. A total of 33,245 kg of liquor has been recovered.

In Amritsar in 24 hours, 18 people were arrested and ten thousand liters of liquor were recovered. Police have detained Tarn taran mastermind Gurpal Singh alias Pali Dhoti on production warrant. Investigations have revealed that a large gang in Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Gurdaspur is carrying out the illegal business of selling liquor with high alcohol content.
