The government of Pakistan has asked its country's banks to immediately stop payments to Indian electronic media. Banning the payment of subscription amount will affect the display of Indian news and Internet channels in Pakistan.
Banks will have to file a report by November 13 to implement this decision taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet on November 9. Banks have to submit their report to the Central Bank of Pakistan- State Bank of Pakistan.
According to the circular issued in connection with the Cabinet decision, banks will have to stop all forms of payments for Indian channels.
These include payments through credit cards. In Pakistan, payment will also not be made for G5 video-on-demand service. In this regard, former chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, Absar Alam said, "There is already a ban on Indian news and entertainment content in Pakistan."
Therefore, the latest decision of the cabinet will hamper the online payment of Direct to Home (DTH). Told that most of those who use the DTH facility make an online payment for Indian content.
