Five crore scam in ticket sales of the Statue of Unity

Out of the money collected from the sale of tickets of the Statue of Unity in Gujarat's Narmada district, a case of a scam of Rs 5.24 crore has been reported. Police have registered a case of misappropriation of money against some employees of the cash collection agency. No arrests have been made in this case so far.

The memorial of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is called the Statue of Unity. Since being inaugurated in October 2018, the Statue remains the largest center of tourism in the state. A police officer said on Wednesday that the money deposited by the Statue of Unity management in Kevadia in Narmada district during the year and a half was handed over to the collection agency. The cash collection agency works for a private bank in Vadodara.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vani Dudhat said that some employees of the agency did not deposit Rs 5,24,77,375 in the bank account of the Statue of Unity authority.

The manager of the private bank lodged an FIR against unknown employees of the cash collection agency at Kevadia police station on Monday night.
