China's tech firm ByteDance has announced to consolidate its business from India. The company has taken this decision in view of the restrictions issued in India on its short video app Tik Tok.
Tik Tok global interim head Vanessa Papas and Global Business Solutions' Vice President Blake Chandley informed employees of the decision in a joint email. He informed that the number of employees will be reduced. The email said, "We do not know when we will be back in India, but we are confident of returning and we would definitely like to return here.
" Sources associated with ByteDance say that in a meeting on Wednesday, it was decided to close the Indian business. The company says that select departments like Legal, Administrative, Human Resource, and Account will continue to work in India.
