Day after Muradnagar incident, three people including Junior Engineer arrested in roof collapse case. The roof of the cremation ground at Muradnagar in Ghaziabad collapsed on Sunday. 23 people who attended the funeral died due to being buried under the debris, while more than 40 people were injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mourned the accident.
At the same time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of two lakh rupees to the family of the deceased. At the same time, action has been taken against those responsible for the incident. The inquiry into the accident has been given to Mandalayak Anita C. Meshram and ADG Zone Rajiv Sabharwal.
Jairam, a resident of Balaji Colony, died on January 1 due to illness. At around 10 am on Sunday morning, people had gone to the Ukhalarsi funeral site with Jayaram's body. More than a hundred people attended the funeral. Around 11 o'clock the funeral procession was complete and the priest called all the people to the gallery for two minutes of silence for the peace of Jayaram's soul. Suddenly the roof of the gallery collapsed at around 11.15 am.
Some people got buried under the rubble. Local people and police reached the spot and started rescue and relief operations. The NDRF team reached the spot from Ghaziabad in about half an hour. During this time, JCB, Hydra engaged in rapid rail construction work was called. With its help, 65 people were pulled out of the rubble.
The doctors declared 23 people dead in the hospital. The injured are undergoing treatment. District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani also reached the spot immediately. Union Minister of State VK Singh, Minister of State Atul Garg, etc. also reached the spot and consoled the families of the victims. The primary investigation has revealed the use of very inferior materials in construction. The municipality built it two months ago.
