No registration of government vehicles older than 15 years

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said in a proposal that registration of any government vehicle older than 15 years will not be renewed after April 1 next year. The Ministry has sought an opinion from all the concerned parties for this proposal. 

After getting the approval, this rule is applicable for vehicles associated with all types of government departments in the center, states, union territories, government companies, municipal bodies and autonomous institutions. For commercial vehicles, this period will be 15 years. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had earlier said that according to estimates one crore vehicles will go for scraping. In such a situation, this grandson will need a fresh investment of Rs 10,000 crore. It will also provide more than 50,000 employment opportunities. It is said that the old trains cause up to 12 times more pollution than the new ones.
