The top court has agreed to hear a petition filed to stop Central Vista, the central government's ambitious project in this era of the corona epidemic. The petition has been filed by Anya Malhotra and Suhail Hashmi and has appealed to the Supreme Court to direct it to suspend all construction activities under Central Vista in view of the rising outbreak of the Corona epidemic.
Please tell that a petition, in this case, has also been filed in the Delhi High Court. On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court had said that it would hear the matter on May 17. A bench of Justices DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh adjourned the case giving a hearing date. Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, appearing for the Government of India, opposed the petition and raised doubts about the spirit of the petition.
The petitioners have termed the construction activities a violation of the directions of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. The petition said that when the outbreak of the epidemic continues in Delhi, first of all, measures should be taken to deal with it. Let us tell you that in December 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it.
